  • Mixing with knobs just won't work for me, and I love the sliders over wheels any day. All of the new stuff is nice, and I could probably make use of it, but I'm perfectly happy with what I have. I've got my setup working exactly the way I want it. I tried to see the advantages of the new units, but for me I'm glad I have the first version. I've grown to like the sliders versus the wheels. Need more table space (if the space is limited where you want to set your keyboard that's a factor).Ĥ. The MKII version is wider from the front of the keys to the back. Meaning that the jumbo monitors are clutter in that regard.ģ. It's way faster to get to the patch you want by using the mouse and jumping to the patch within Komplete Kontrol by a couple clicks. Using the Komplete Kontrol browser on the keyboard itself is a nuisance when you have a lot of patches. I do not want to see two colorful monitors in front of my hands as I'm playing.Ģ. My creative thoughts need less distraction.

I get why and where Native Instruments is headed with the new versions. I watched the new promos and tours through the new MKII versions of the S series keyboards. So while they probably added a bit more DAW functionality, they are not going to position these devices as a general DAW controllers, at least I have not seed such statements. Abstract DAW control surface should have no particular plug-in dependency. I do not have (and I have no plans to have) NI controllers, so no plans to integrate myself. NI has not published any plans about Sonar yet. Who knows, may be they can do the same for NI. CW has cooperated for Console 1 integrations. Ableton scripts should uncover it (as it was with track switching in current version). With hi probability they use some "proprietary protocol". Is that going to work throw Mackie emulation? I have not found the answer. From short reviews (I have not found any deep information on topic), it can be that volume control+pan+level indicators are bound to DAW strips. And looks really useful if it would do all that in sonar.ĭuring the first time I watched videos, I was unsure what "mixing" mode is controlling (DAW or NI software). You gotta watch the video to see the integration with abelton and logic. Both controllers are not designed to control a (any) DAW.
